- Wendy Tate’s article titled “An Agency Theory Perspective on the Purchase of Marketing Services”, co-authored by Lisa Ellram, Evi Hartmann, Lydia Bals and Wendy van der Valk has been accepted by Industrial Marketing Management.
- Lloyd Rinehart was the recipient of the 2008 Best Associate Editor Award for the Journal of Supply Chain Management which is one of the fastest growing journals in the field.
- Shay Scott became the new director of the Global Business Institute.

- The Journal of Operations Management honored Beth Davis-Smarek, Tom Mentzer and Ted Stank with second place in the Best Paper Award for their article, “Creating Consumer Durable Retailer Customer Loyalty Through Order Fulfillment Service Operations,” Journal of Operations Management, 26 (No. 6, 2008), 781-797.
- John T. Mentzer’s article “Is ‘Consumer-Orientation’ a Dimension of Market Orientation in Consumer Markets?”, co-authored with Linda Silver Coley and Martha C. Cooper, was accepted by the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice.

- Daniel Flint's article with John Mello (UT Ph.D.), "A Refined View of Grounded Theory and its Application to Logistics Research" was published in the Journal of Business Logistics.
- Beth Davis-Sramek, Cornelia Droge, Tom Mentzer, and Matt Myers had their paper, "Creating Commitment and Loyalty Behavior Among Retailers: What are the Roles of Service Quality and Satisfaction?" accepted by the Journal of Academy of Marketing Science.
- Christopher Blocker, UT Ph.D., Daniel Flint and Matthew Myers received the AMS Wayne Delozier Award for Best Conference Paper, 2009 Academy of Marketing Science Conference for their paper, "Customer Value Perceptions in Global Business Markets: Exploring
the Strategic Potential of Standardization".

- Tom Mentzer's paper "User Influence on the Relationship between Forecast Accuracy, Application and Logistics Performance", co-authored with Carlo Smith, was accepted for publication in the
Journal of Business Logistics. - The University of Tennessee, Knoxville’s Supply Chain and Logistics graduate program continued its upward trajectory in U.S. News & World Report's 2010 graduate rankings, rising one spot to #9 in the nation and #5 among all public institutions. UT’s College of Business Administration’s supply chain and logistics graduate program now has been listed among the world’s best programs by the publication for four consecutive years.
- Mark Moon received the 2009 College of Business Administration Allen H. Keally Outstanding Teacher Award.
- Monique Ueltschy and Hannah Stolze, Ph.D Candidates in Logistics presented "The Interface of Green, Lean and Global Supply Chain Strategies" at the Midwest DSI conference at Miami University. The presentation was based on a manuscript co-authored with Wendy Tate and Diane Mollenkopf that is currently under review at International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management.
- Beth Davis-Sramek (UT Ph.D.), Tom Mentzer and Ted Stank’s paper “Creating Consumer Durable Retailer Customer Loyalty Through Order Fulfillment Service Operations” has been selected as a finalist for the 2008 Best Paper Award for papers published in the Journal of Operations Management.
- Serhiy Ponomarov, Ph.D. Candidate in Logistics has been awarded a grant from the Institute for Supply Management to support attendance at the IFPSM 2009 Summer School in Salzburg, Austria.
- Terry Esper received the 2009 Chancellor's Honors Excellence in Teaching Award.
- Prathiba Dabholkar's article "Increasing the Attractiveness of Mass Customization: The Role of Complementary Online Services and Range of Options" co-authored with Benedict G.C. Dellaert has been accepted in the International Journal of Electronic Commerce.
- The College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has been ranked No. 2 in the world by Transportation Journal for the research done by its Supply Chain/Logistics Faculty. Department faculty authored or co-authored 24 articles. UT's ranking in this study supplements international rankings already earned through publications such as U.S. News & World Report, Journal of Business Logistics, BearingPoint Assessment Study and Supply Chain Management Review.

- Wendy Tate has a focus study, co-authored with Tom Gattiker and Craig Carter “Supply Management’s Strategic Role in Environmental Practices”. The focus study is sponsored by CAPS Research (PDF and summary available at http://capsresearch.org/).
